Chinese New Year Celebration In Thailand

For my second blog, I am going to share about the Chinese New Year celebration in Thailand. In Thailand, Chinese New Year also known as 'Trut Chin'. This is a festival of thanks giving and ancestor worship, and a time of family reunion. They will have days off to perform the ritual to worship gods, godness and ancestors. Beside that, visit their senior relatives when new year begins. All the practices are origin of the term 'Buying Day', 'Worshipping Day' and 'Observing Day'.

'Buying Day' is the day before new year's eve where for the Thais who have not yet preparing things and they must finished doing it within that day. 'Worshiping Day' is the day that each house performs ritual to worship thier ancestors. They worship land of gods in the morning while worship the ancestors during the afternoon. During 'Observing Day', everyone will do and say only auspicious things. 'Observing Day' is also call 'going out day', it is derived from the fact that when children and employers get 'angpao'.
